Trivia

  • Although the real-life Summerside was founded in the 1800s, Valentine Courtaloe mentioned that her great-great-grandfather lived there and was buried at the local graveyard in 1760.
  • Locations set in Summerside were rewritten as other places in films that adapted material from Anne of Windy Poplars. Notably, in Anne of Green Gables: The Sequel (1987), Anne's encounters with the Pringle family have been relocated to the town of Kingsport, Nova Scotia. In Anne of Windy Poplars (1940), the setting for the Summerside locations is known as Pringleton.
