Lily Jones was an orphan who lived in the Hopetown asylum until she was five years old.

BiographyEdit

Early lifeEdit

Lily was born in 1871, probably somewhere in Nova Scotia. By the time she was five years old, she was an orphan and lived in the Hopetown orphan asylum along with Anne Shirley, Hepzibah Jenkins and others.

AdoptionEdit

In June 1876, she was adopted by Mrs. Spencer of Prince Edward Island, who took her to White Sands to live. It is unknown what happened to Lily afterwards.

Physical appearanceEdit

Lily was described by Anne Shirley as very beautiful. She had nut-brown hair, which was something that Anne envied her for.

EtymologyEdit

Lily is a female given name of Latin origin directly derived from lily, the flower. Lily is a symbol of purity, innocence and beauty.
