Joshua Pye was a member of the Pye family who lived in Carmody and the painter who painted Avonlea Hall.

Joshua was said to be an odd man, not speaking often. He was shy and didn't like to be around people very much.


Joshua is a male given name of Hebrew origin and means Jehovah is salvation.

  • Dan Gillan portrayed Joshua in the second episode of the 1975 TV series Anne of Avonlea. Gillan was the first actor to play the part.
