Jack Wright was the youngest son of Diana Barry and Fred Wright, the brother of Fred Jr. and Anne Cordelia, the resident of Lone Willow Farm and a soldier who fought in World War I.

Biography[]

Early life[]

Jack was born in 1890 in Avonlea, Prince Edward Island, to Diana and Fred Wright. A few years after his birth Wright family moved to Lone Willow Farm. Jack raised there along with his older siblings, brother Fred and sister Anne Cordelia, and children of Davy and Dora.

In September 1897, when he was seven years old, Jack attended Avonlea School, where his parents and siblings also studied. In spring 1899 Anne visited Avonlea. At that time Jack was nine years old and he wanted to be a soldier.

"Now, Jack is crazy to be a soldier when he grows up... a soldier! Just fancy!"
Diana Barry about her son[src]

World War I[]

"Even Billy Andrews' boy is going—and Jane's only son—and Diana's little Jack. Priscilla's son has gone from Japan and Stella's from Vancouver—and both the Rev. Jo's boys. Philippa writes that her boys 'went right away, not being afflicted with her indecision.'"
—Anne tells Ingleside news of the boys going off to war[src]

Jack's dream came true when World War I began. He was 24 years old and enlisted to Canadian Army in September 1914 along with Billy's son, Jane's son, Priscilla's son, Stella's son and Phil's two sons. Jack is also badly injured in December 1917, very soon after Walter Blythe's death, and Anne and Gilbert go to Avonlea to be with Diana. It is not made certain whether or not he survives.
