Trivia

  • The titles of this and the previous episode ("Your Will Shall Decide Your Destiny") are references to Chapter 23 of Jane Eyre, Charlotte Brontë's novel which had an influence on L.M. Montgomery's writing. The titular character works as a teacher for wealthy Mr. Rochester, whom she secretly loves. Believing he is about to get married to another woman, she wants to leave his house and go to Ireland. Jane eventually tells Mr. Rochester, "I am no bird; and no net ensnares me; I am a free human being with an independent will, which I now exert to leave you.", to which he replies: "And your will shall decide your destiny."
