Something nice about living in Canada - I watched the first episode of Anne (2017 TV series) last night on CBC. So here's a quick review!
(There are probably spoilers here, for everyone who wants to wait for it on Netflix. And my fellow Canadians who didn't watch it last night - it's available online on CBC HERE.)
Now, if I'm not mistaken, Anne is going to cover Anne's first year in school.
Here come the SPOILERS (I think)
Without going into too much detail, Your Will Shall Decide Your Destiny covers Anne's arrival at Green Gables (I find it hilarious that every adaptation I've seen so far finds it important that Anne talks about her wonky bag), the failed attempt to return her to orphanage, meeting Diana Barry, and the amethyst brooch incident. …Read more >
So, exciting news - I managed to watch L.M. Montgomery's Anne of Green Gables: The Good Stars yesterday!
Review below and be forewarned - there's spoilers (I don't know what counts for spoilers, so consider this my warning).
The Good Stars picks up after the events of L.M. Montgomery's Anne of Green Gables (no exact timeframe). Anne is twelve-going-on-thirteen and settled in at Green Gables. Now that she has a form of stability in where she's living and a family in Marilla and Matthew, she's starting to experience growing up.
This takes the form of what Marilla will repeat throughout the film as "being sensible." Anne and her friends are still very much children - Anne complains about geometry being the worst, she's still impulsive, and she's g…

Friday was my lucky day. By accident I found the 2016 film online - brilliant quality and with Czech dubbing (Czech is one of the languages I understand and even speak) that was made for the Czech broadcast on HBO. Even though I wanted to order the DVD and watch the movie with the original sound, I couldn't resist and had to see it as soon as I could. I still want to order the DVD to hear the original voices, but the dubbing was (surprisingly) not that bad.
When it comes to the movie... almost everything I want to say, is already covered in Eikakou and Susannah's reviews and I feel pretty much the same about it. I particularly liked Botsford's Marilla - I'm not saying she was the perfect Marilla, but I liked the way she portrayed the charac…Read more >
Who was a fan of L.M. Montgomery's Anne of Green Gables? Well, some good news - Corus Entertainment has announced the production of two more films, with Ella Ballentine, Sara Botsford, and Martin Sheen returning as Anne, Marilla, and Matthew respectively.
The two films are currently going to be Good Stars (to air next year) and Fire & Dew (expected to air in 2018). Both films are going to be based on the first book, with Good Stars following Anne from the age of 13 and how her relationships with Diana and Gilbert begin to shift, and Fire & Dew covering her time at Charlottetown studying to be a teacher.
Looks like we'll be seeing a lot of Anne in 2017!

You may know that I am the Ebenezer Scrooge kind of person - I think twice before buying things, especially when it comes to DVDs. But yet I decided to order Anne: Journey to Green Gables from the German Amazon. The price was really good, even though the shipping was almost more expensive than the DVD itself. My order arrived only yesterday, but I couldn't wait, I had to watch the film immediately. So... here are my thoughts.
- Technical stuff
It is a classic one-disc DVD, with only one language option (English) and apparently without subtitles - at least I couldn't find them anywhere. It is a Region 1 DVD, which means it should only work in the US or Canada (I live in Region 2), but I found out on the Internet that those DVDs can be played on y…Read more >
(Psst: This is kind of a LONG review! Maybe go get something to eat or drink while you read.)
Yesterday, I went to the cinema with my mum and sister and watched L.M. Montgomery's Anne of Green Gables, starring Ella Ballentine as Anne. Today, I'm sitting down with a mug of tea and attempting to write a coherent review of the movie. Here goes.
Fun fact: we wanted to go to an earlier (cheaper) session, but it was all booked out, so we had to go to the afternoon session instead. The cinema was nearly full, and consisted of a good range of ages (it was a public holiday), from older couples to parents with children and teenagers (mostly girls). The audience was very responsive and laughed at all the funny parts in the movie. It was lovely vibe, and …

Hello Anne fans!
It's probably too late, but for any Canadians out there, L.M. Montgomery's Anne of Green Gables re-aired on YTV today (May 29, 2016) as part of its Sunday movie lineup. It happens to be on as I'm writing this, but I won't be able to watch the whole thing again, too busy. =(
Better news for any American fans out there - Ella Ballentine has confirmed on her twitter feed that L.M. Montgomery's Anne of Green Gables will be airing in the United States; details still pending.

It's been a few months since it aired on YTV, but I'm wondering if anyone has seen L.M. Montgomery's Anne of Green Gables and would like to discuss it? I did see it and wanted to share some thoughts (and I'll hope you'll forgive me if my memory is off - this was way back in February). Please be warned - there's probably spoilers (I don't know what counts for spoilers, so consider this my warning).
While I'm going to admit I was probably (at least subconsciously) comparing it to the 1985 miniseries, I was watching the movie to see it on its own merits and how it would compare to the events in the book. I'm also going to say that I haven't read Before Green Gables, but I didn't feel like there were many parts in the film that needed the audie…

Ok, I have recieved TBAQ and have read up to the end of the fourth short story so far. I love Anne's poems—and I have read "a bit" ahead—"The Aftermath" and following dialogue by Jem and Anne. It's way thicker than I excpected—nearly one-and-a-half inches long (3 and a half centimeters)!! (Now I want the Rilla of Ingleside edited by Benjamin Lefebvre.)
The first "entry" in the book is Walter's "Piper" then the longest story, "Some Fools and a Saint." It's rather freaky. Along the way, there are several "Evening Vignettes" discussing Anne's old poems. The climax for me came when, at the end of the fourth story "The Twins Pretend," Anne and Gilbert eavesdrop on a conversation between two reunited lovers and then think, respectively,

As the title says, YAY!!! I went down to Maryland last weekend to NorthBay Adventure Camp and it was awesome! But that is not the point... the point is that I went down with money and my mom told me if I could save enough for The Blythes Are Quoted, I could have it!!! And I did it!!!
Also, I was just waching short clips from the Continuing Story of Anne of Green Gables, and I am not impressed. Why did Kevin Sullivan all of a sudden decide to bring WWI into ANNE OF GREEN GABLES??? The movie is NOT true to the book like the others--WWI was in Rilla of Ingleside, nearly 20 years later! The others were much better!

- Find the remaining cast lists of Anne of Green Gables – The Musical and Anne & Gilbert.
- Update the book appearances.

All right, who knows what's going on at this wiki right now? *raises hand, looks around anxiously* In case you somehow didn't get the memo once you arrived, we're currently ten days into our month-long 100 Years of Anne of the Island project! As it is Day #10, I've taken the liberty of bringing you ten interesting facts about Anne of the Island that you may or may not know (depending on how well you've perused this wiki).
(Disclaimer: These facts aren't mindblowing or shocking, and some are nearly common knowledge, but I still feel confident in putting 'interesting' in the title. This is an Anne website, after all.)
#1: It is L. M. Montgomery's seventh book.
Preceded by Anne of Green Gables (1908), Anne of Avonlea (1909), Kilmeny of the Orchard (1910), …Read more >
Anne of the Island is the third book in the Anne of Green Gables series, first published in July 1915. It covers four years of Anne's life -- the four years she spends studying at Redmond College, in fact -- and it celebrates its centenary in July! How awesome is that?
So, to celebrate, we at the wiki have decided to hold a celebration, called 100 Years of Anne of the Island. Here's the deal: You edit any article relating to Anne of the Island during the month of July (denoted by this template at the top), and you can earn a fun set of badges and make your way up the user leaderboard! It's going to be lots of fun, but we need your help to make this work.

As you might have noticed, I created pages for several Anne of Green Gables radio dramas a few days ago. I found them only by accident - I was looking for info about Phyllis Shumway and I managed to find the BBC TV/Radio archive with all the adaptations they've made. I decided to continue with this project and add the other radio dramas based on AoGG.
I knew that Toby Tarnow, who played Anne in the 1956 film, had portrayed Anne in a radio drama on CBC Radio. That's all I knew. And that's all Google knew. I figured out that the adaptation must have been made after 1950 (when apparently Toby started her career) and before March 1956 (when the film was broadcast). I tried everything I could and somehow I found this article from Ottaw…Read more >

For those who do not know (seriously, where have you been?), Green Gables Fables is a YouTube web series based on Anne of Green Gables and starring Mandy Harmon as Anne. Now, since it was only the second web series I'd ever watched (the first was Job Hunters), and adaptations of Anne tend to vary wildly in terms of quality, originality and appeal, I wasn't sure what to make of it at first. Interestingly, its three creators – Alicia Whitson, head writer; Marie Trotter, producer and transmedia boss; and Mandy Harmon, director and actress – are three young women who have never met in person.
I started watching Green Gables Fables when there were only ten episodes posted, thanks to LilyLacreag, but I didn't think they were anything spectacular, though I…

So... I finished watching Akage no An yesterday and my work is almost done. After two months of watching, writing down the notes, uploading info and editing, it's finally the time to sum up and sort out my thoughts.
Akage no An is without any doubts a perfect adaptation of Anne of Green Gables. It covers EVERY single moment mentioned in the book - the only thing that wasn't included is Anne's walk through the Haunted Forest. I totally fell in love with that story once again.
The series has enchanting music and flawless drawings. When I started to watch it, I was a little bit afraid as I usually watch films and TV series in my language or in English. But after several episodes I got used to Japanese language and even learnt s…Read more >

We always knew Nan and Di, Anne and Gilbert's twin daughters, are different. But how different? And in which ways are they still similar? In this article, I take a closer look at the Ingleside twins, the third named set of twins (and the first ones of the same gender) to be introduced in the Anne of Green Gables series. Nan is often described as being like her mother, while Di is her father's favourite. But is this true of the way they are characterised?
Each twin has several stories in Anne of Ingleside devoted to her. Nan's (Chapters 25-26, Chapters 30-31 and Chapters 35-36) are tales of making bargains with God, being fooled into thinking she was swapped at birth and her fairytale idea of the GLOOMY HOUSE. Di's (Chapters 28-29 and Chapters …Read more >

Just to let you know I've started a wiki about the Emily trilogy (Emily of New Moon, Emily Climbs and Emily's Quest) by Lucy Maud Montgomery. It's over at Emily of New Moon Wiki if you want to check it out. A notice though: it is VERY new and currently has barely any content. I have started basing it around this wiki (e.g. the way the main page looks), but of course we can change that if it doesn't suit it. I thought if anybody here has read and/or liked the Emily books in addition to the Anne of Green Gables series, they might like to help out on the wiki. Since a couple of people are posting their stories of how Anne has inpacted their lives, I thought I'd do the same ...
I first read Anne of Green Gables (the original edition) when I was around eight or nine or so. I was always a bookworm, but I was at a bit of a loss at what to read at that point. We were at the local library and my mum found two books for me to read: Anne of Green Gables and What Katy Did by Susan Coolidge (that one's still one of my favourites). Since I live in Australia, the edition I borrowed from the library was this one (see picture):
I didn't just read Anne of Green Gables: I devoured it. And when I was ten I was so infatuated with the series that I bought the first seven books for my birthday (unfortunately the shop did…

For an image of a film poster/DVD cover, etc.:

I've known Anne over 15 years now. I started reading these books at my teens. Books were my mothers old, there is my mother marks and writings in everywhere ("I love Christer!!! 1.9.1967"). Now I've read these books about 20-30 times, in finnish and english, I've listened them and I have different editions, old and new. My biggest treasures are first finnish editions from 1920's.

So as promised in my previous post, I am starting a five-part series on the main characters living in Avonlea (in my opinion) – Anne Shirley, Marilla Cuthbert, Matthew Cuthbert, Diana Barry, and Gilbert Blythe.
I find it only appropriate to start this series off with the most obvious lead character, Anne Shirley. The novel is named “Anne of Green Gables”, after all!
So,Anne Shirley, who is she you might ask? That question isn’t asked very often where I live - in Canada. She’s practically the mascot of Prince Edward Island, if not the country. She’s the stereotypical, red-haired (with a temper to match) and freckled little girl, who wasn’t the boy Marilla and Matthew Cuthbert sent for. But there really is much, MUCH more to her than that!

It seems as if almost all of my life, I have had a passion for one particular series: Anne of Green Gables. It's funny, because it's not the type of thing a 17 year old girl would typically be interested in, in this day and age. My grandmother got me interested when I was young, and ever since I have been captivated by it. I started out watching the movies at her house from as early as I can remember. Every time I went to visit her, that was what we would watch!
Just recently though, I grew an even bigger interest in this delightful series. Just over a year ago, I found a very old copy of the novel, "Anne of Green Gables" in my basement. It was during the summer time, and I had nothing better to do. I had never actually read the novels, so …Read more >
This is a rough guide to how character articles should be named, if more than one option is possible.
- The name of the article should be the name the character is
best known by. This means you can use nicknames, as long as they
are more well known than the original names.
- Examples: Use Carl Meredith instead of Thomas Carlyle Meredith and Rilla Blythe instead of Bertha Marilla Blythe. Also use Nan Blythe instead of Anne Blythe, as Nan is hardly ever referred to as Anne.
- Exceptions: Do not use the name the character is best
known by if that name includes a title (such as Miss, Mr, Dr, Mrs,
- Example: Use Muriel Stacy instead of Miss Stacy and Teddy Phillips instead of Mr. Phillips.
- Avoid using titles in article names, unless there is no other

Hi! As I annouced, my new blog post is here on Sunday, September 23.
For people, who don't know me - I'm LilyLacreag, I come from Slovakia and I'm currently No.1 at this wiki.
Why I'm writing this blog post at the moment? Because there are some problems and we must solve them. Everything has its order and rules. Please, follow the rules - otherwise there is a chaos and lot of unnecessary work.
Our biggest problem is names of characters. Every character page has three types of these names. First in the name of page, second in first sentence of article and third at the top of Infobox.
Page name is simple and contains short form of name (James Blythe, Mary Vance, Jerry Meredith...). These names are more common. Please, don't use full name wi…

I found we have there a big problem with categories. In some articles they are poorly chosen or in wrong order. I prepared some tips.
These categories are ONLY for online chapters from Anne's books. Not for characters which appeared in those books. (If Jem appeared in Anne of Ingleside, please, don't add Read:Anne of Ingleside to him.)
Category Canada residents is all characters which lived in Canada, but NOT in Prince Edward Island. (Like Mrs. Hammond, Walter and Bertha Shirley and more.) Also for characters which lived on PEI and then moved somewhere in Canada (like Leslie - she lived in Four Winds and after wedding with Owen she moved to Toronto) or characters which lived somewhere in Canada and then moved to PEI (Anne Shirley).
