Casting
- Although for the most part this film is identical to the 1956 version, one of the most noticeable differences is in the casting. There were four cast changes:
- Toby Tarnow (Anne Shirley) was replaced by Kathy Willard
- Barbara Tremain (Mrs. Spencer) was replaced by Maude Whitmore
- Jean Keller (Mrs. Blewett) was replaced by Aileen Seaton
- Pegi Brown (Mrs. Bell) was replaced by Araby Lockhart
