Template:Out of universe Anne's House of Dreams is the fifth book in the Anne of Green Gables series by L. M. Montgomery. It centres on 25-year-old Anne Shirley, who has just married Gilbert Blythe and settled into a lovely house in Four Winds.
Dedication
"To Laura, in memory of the olden time."
Blurb
Anne's own true love, Gilbert Blythe, is finally a doctor, and in the sunshine of the old orchard, among their dearest friends, they are about to speak their vows. Soon the happy couple will be bound for a new life together and their own dream house, on the misty purple shores of Four Winds Harbour.
A new life means fresh problems to solve, fresh surprises. Anne and Gilbert will make new friends and meet their neighbours, Captain Jim, the lighthouse attendant, with his sad stories of the sea, Miss Cornelia Bryant, the lady who speaks from the heart - and speaks her mind - and the tragically beautiful Leslie Moore, into whose dark life Anne shines a brilliant light. Behind the scenes
Trivia
- Anne's House of Dreams is dedicated to Laura Pritchard Agnew, Montgomery's friend from Prince Albert, Saskatchewan. Laura and her brother Will were one of Montgomery's first kindred spirits. To honour her childhood friends, Montgomery later modeled Diana Barry after Laura and Gilbert Blythe after Will.
- Anne's House of Dreams is the first book in the Anne series to take place in the location of Four Winds. However, Four Winds also appears as the name of a location in an earlier short story by Montgomery entitled "Four Winds", which was published between 1907 and 1908. The story also contains a plot that has a striking resemblance to the story of Owen Ford, Leslie West, and Dick and George Moore.
